Hide The Wires
When moving in to their new 2,500 square foot Westlake Village condominium, the neighbors realized that they needed a place to put up their 65 inch big screen television and they insisted that they didn’t want to see any wires.
The process of putting up a flat screen TV and hiding wires is normally pretty simple. But in this case, because it was an attached condominium with a common wall, the space behind the television was stuffed full of fiberglass insulation for fire protection and was protected by two layers of 5/8 inch thick sheet rock. Due to the amount of material on the wall, it was going to be a tough time pulling both power and home theater cables from their entertainment cabinet to both the TV and sound bar.
The team at OMG Amazing utilized some specialized cable raceway that allowed both power and video/audio/cable tv cabling to be put inside that wall. An additional access port was necessary to allow for the sound bar which was driven by a fiber optic cable from the television. Power came from an existing outlet which was at the floor level and approximately 8 feet to the left. We were able to tap off that power supply and move it two behind the television set. Some access holes had to be cut in the drywall and those holes and repairs were made by our construction team upon completion of the installation.

The sound bar was mounted independently of the TV unlike many common installations today, and the cable box was installed and mounted behind the television set utilizing RF remote control to control the box. This made for a very clean installation and convenience to our client. In addition, the specialized raceway installed allowed us to easily run cables from the television to the sound bar to the entertainment consle making it easy for future expansion if necessary.
Upon installation of the television and sound bar, the TV set was adjusted for optimum Picture quality and other settings that were required to meet the client needs. The sound bar was tuned to the viewing area to provide excellent 5.1 sound quality throughout the room with the centerpoint being a couch position directly center of the television. The Meyberg’s were then given instructions on how to control both the sound bar, television, and cable television box.
The project was completed on-time and within budget and our clients were extremely happy even though it took a few more hours than anticipated due to the density issues within the walls which was not seen until the project began.
