The Hancock Park neighborhood feels like an oasis in the middle of busy Los Angeles – filled with beautiful, historic homes, sprawling grassy lawns, plenty of shade trees, and wide, quiet streets. The stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood lived in the lush neighborhood during the midcentury. It’s not hard to see why—a location near Hollywood and several movie studios, as well as the gorgeous mansions, made it ideal for stars who wanted convenience and luxury. Hancock Park was put forever on the map as a neighborhood fit for the who’s who of American celebrity. In 1923, the current home of Magic on Melrose was built and the rest became part of Hollywood history.
Magic on Melrose was designed and concepted by Fernando Garibay, is one of the top producers and the executive producer of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way album, and has produced and written with the following artists: U2, Sia, Britney Spears, Shakira, Snoop Dogg, WIZ KHALIFA, and The Black Eyed Peas.
Garaby decided it was time to move on and persue his passion as leader on all thing creativity and Founder of The Garibay Center; a think tank and creative media lab.
In 2020 during the height of the pandemic, Garibay sold the Melrose Studio to the current owner, Jadranko “JD” Ostojic, a supermodel and actor from Belgium who has modelled for Versace, Luciano Soprani, Gucci, and he has appeared in many Belgian movies and televison series. JD and his family moved from Belgium to the United States in 2017 to participate in the hit series, Growing Up Supermodel, a docuseries on Lifetime which followed the careers of daughters and sons of famous models or actors. Prior to landing the reality show, he worked as a spokesmodel for both Gucci and Versace.His love of the creative process, along with his success as a businessman, JD wanted to make Magic on Melrose the ultimate space in Hollywood for those who want to persue their dreams and passion.
JD’s purpose in purchasing the beautiful home and studio on Melrose Avenue was to give a warm and comfortable creative space to people in the entertainment industry. His first tenant was Kuk Harrell, a famed music producer, song writer and vocal producer has made his mark on modern pop music working with such talent as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Sting, Mary J. Blige, Cardi B, Lorde, Jessie J, Camila Cabello, Kane Brown, J Lo, Lionel Richie, Celine Dion, Normani, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber & Monsta X and many more. Magic on Melrose gave him the wisdom and passion to Magic on Melrose where he not only did his magic with the legends but he made it available to a select clientele for their own resort like creative environment.
In 2022, as the pandemic wound to an end, JD remodeled Magic on Melrose to make it an even more appealing and even more comfortable space for creatives of all types. Adding a stylish European look along with Smart Home technologies, Magic on Melrose opened up and attracted the likes of Peter Jideonwo, one of the more adept artist managers of the times, successfully managing some of music’s brightest names over the years, including Trippie Redd, The Kid Laroi and the late, highly revered Juice WRLD. Currently, he co-owns independent label Grade A with partner Lil Bibby, and together they’re Magic on Melrose residence and studio in so many different ways, from artist development, recording and social media strategy – a business that runs the gamut of the hottest rappers at the moment, including Lil Durk, Polo G, Lil Tjay, G Herbo and many more.
Magic on Melrose is a haven where business, creativity, and pleasure intertwine seamlessly. This unique establishment has captivated the attention of renowned music producer LA Reid, who recognized its potential as the ideal location for his exclusive roster of artists. LA Reid’s journey in the music industry is an illustrious one, having shaped the careers of numerous iconic musicians. With his keen eye for talent and remarkable ear for sound, LA Reid has become synonymous with success, and he has partnered with Usher form a brand-new record label, and they’re both extremely excited to get to work utilizing the enchanting ambiance of Magic on Melrose to further elevated their achievements. By choosing Magic on Melrose as their creative sanctuary, LA Reid and Usher have found the perfect backdrop for their artists to flourish and thrive, contributing to their remarkable success stories.
JD’s passion for entertainment continues with his formation of Nova Soundbath, a relaxing, luxurious, and immersive, surround-sound meditative experience in which your are bathed in waves of vibrations produced by instruments played by accomplished and dedicated healers holding space for you through deep prayer and Reiki. It’s a powerful tune-up down to the cellular level without having to do any work! You can expect to relax and possibly nap, waking up feeling renewed, lighter and shining brighter. In his native Belgium, soundbaths are extremely popular with many people changing their lives through the power of sound. JD and Nova are now bring that to America with incredbile success.
